Spiritual Enlightenment
This is an account of my experience of this event at age 55; what it is, and how it came about in my case. This is a difficult subject to write about because there is so much misinformation available, not to mention the pretentiousness and hypocrisy of false gurus.
Firstly, this is a trans-personal event. As such no ‘person’ can achieve it by any means or any technique, especially not via Zen Buddhist techniques. These techniques are based on a false premise and are an exercise in futility (to be explained later). Further, no ‘guru’ can give it to anyone.
This event is in the Hindu tradition of temporary union with Brahma (God); it is not and never was in the Buddhist tradition. It is a Grace, a discretionary gift from that God which Buddhism ignores.
When this event occurs one is taken out of space and time and out of the physical body. The name and personality are obliterated and the day to day mind ceases to operate -because this event is too much for it to comprehend. Hence ‘no mind’.
It is a mistake to want to be Enlightened, and all that one can do is prepare oneself. But how?
It turns out that I prepared myself without realising it, or was guided to do so. My first motivation for change was an ‘incurable’ auto-immune disease suffered for 20 years until I got to the point of having had enough. I then attended a weekend personal development course that became a 6 month commitment.
I finally realised that I was causing my own disease, and then stopped causing it. This was aided by a dream (from my higher self) which explained how I was causing it via an unconscious belief system encapsulated within a cloud of negative emotion, all originating from a traumatic childhood.
As a result of this personal development work I became aware of how much psychic suffering there is in everyone: it is the current human condition. My intention then became, and remains, to help to improve the human condition. No doubt God was aware of this intention before awarding the Grace in question.
After the 6 month workshop I undertook an esoteric meditation on my chakras to clean them out. It was 7 months before this task was completed. A few days later, kundalini activated itself in my system, easily rising to the top of my head and moving around the inside of my skull. This appears to be another prerequisite for Enlightenment, some kind of neural preparation.
My character was severely tested in that I had sufficient faith to liquidate all material possessions and life savings so as to set up a humanitarian business which eventually failed leaving me homeless and destitute for some years. But there was somehow always a roof over my head, and I now manage on the age pension in a government house.
On being taken out of time and space there was awareness of infinite love plus tremendous creative potential, as might be expected given the Hindu tradition. But there was also awareness of my own individuality, apparently at the Soul level. This is the authentic Enlightenment experience, no more and no less.
Clearly God has intervened in my life -and has now appointed me as His Medium or mouthpiece in closed sessions with other people. My Guide has said this is my life’s true purpose, to help others in this special way.
Zen Buddhism is mistaken in believing that by shooting oneself in the mental foot to stop the mind, Enlightenment automatically occurs. But ‘no mind’ is a consequence of this event: it is NOT causal.
