The physical body is left behind, and may die if one stays too long with God.
In this event one discovers that one is immortal Spirit, a child of God. Refer Psalm 82, verse 6 in the Bible. We have a body; we have a mind, but we are above such things. We reincarnate into this or other worlds in order to provide experience for the Soul of which we are an extension into physical reality, and in order to work off any negative karma accumulated in other lifetimes. We do not possess a Soul; the Soul (existing beyond time and space) possesses us.
Kundalini arousal to the point where it moves around the inside of the skull in a predetermined manner is evidently a prerequisite, and having no negative karma remaining is another. It took an esoteric crystal-assisted meditation twice a day for 7 months to clean out my chakras before kundalini rose up in my system. And one day apropos of nothing I suddenly knew I had no karma remaining. This was a clairsentient knowing. Suffering an 'incurable' auto-immune disease for 20 years before I healed it permanently following an insight into its psycho-somatic nature was probably one way I worked off my karma; incarnating into a dysfunctional family in which there was (unknowing) emotional and psychological child abuse by both parents was another.

I became psychic, with experience of clairvoyance; clairaudience, clairsentience, and precognition in my mid-40's following intensive personal development workshops. These workshops purify the psychological self, without which the mind does not open and Enlightenment probably cannot be given. In such workshops one faces repressed childhood traumas and neutralises or heals them on an unconscious mind level. I then repeated this work on the cellular memory level, via specialised kinesiology.
Arguably many people jump straight into fancy spiritual meditation in order to avoid the more challenging, but essential, psychological work.
I never wanted or expected to have this great blessing and 'reward for effort' at age 55. I appear to have qualified for it by passing intensive tests of character in the 10 years before this event. In one such test I liquefied my life savings; house, and car in order to set up a humanitarian business that failed, leaving me penniless and homeless for some years. But I was never without a roof over my head thanks to the generosity of others.
To conclude, this event is not anything any person can 'obtain' or 'achieve', and it is a mistake to seek it. It is a kind of loving hug from our Father in heaven for those who somehow qualify for it, in my case unknowingly.

Yes, after the death of the physical body we find ourselves in another world much like this one, with an identical body which on that level of reality seems just as physical as this one. Then most of us choose to reincarnate in this world to gain more experience and/or work off negative karma from past mistakes.
